were very thorough in our preparation to solicit bids for
our basement-remodeling project. It was evident that
several contractors were intimidated by our insistence
that plans, specifications and permits
be a part of the written contract. However, Sovereign
Homes seemed pleased to be working with customers who were prepared
and knowledgeable. Their standard contract addressed
all of our concerns about permits and inspections and
included generous allowances for flooring, cabinetry
and tile. The proposed payment schedule seemed
fair and equitable.
During
construction Sovereign was careful to keep us informed
of the progress and made an effort to schedule the noisy
and dusty parts of the job at times that would cause
the least disruption for our family. They were always
willing to answer questions and address any concerns
we had. We were especially impressed with their willingness
to relocate utilities so that the final product
was even more beautiful than we had anticipated.
Ducts, beams and pipes were either moved or skillfully
hidden in ways that were notably innovative.
We
have already recommended Sovereign Construction to several
of our friends and acquaintances. We couldn’t

“During
the fall of 2006, Sovereign Construction did a basement
renovation project in our Mt. Washington home. We have
been very pleased with the results of the work and are
enjoying our modern new living space.
The
initial planning stage was truly "custom"
and we felt that our project was being handled as the
most important one that Sovereign was doing at the time.
No prefab solutions were offered, and some structural
improvements that we wouldn't have considered were offered
and incorporated into the design. Thor and Lars were
excellent during the planning stage of the project.
Our
primary dealings with Lars during construction were
all excellent. Daily scheduling of workmen (all quality
people) was done efficiently and with no surprises.
Construction problems specific to our project were met
with creative solutions with the results being better
than expectations. Lars made himself available a number
of times and what could have been Snafu’s were
headed off cheerfully and effectively.
Lars
and Thor managed to keep the scheduling of the processes
and inspections to be as in-obtrusive as possible. Any
remodeling project of this scope will create some inconvenience,
but this project was relatively smooth throughout.
Our
finished basement is warm, well lit, quiet and comfortable.
It has been a great place to be so far, and has greatly
increased the value of our home. If you are considering
a basement renovation, we highly recommend Lars and
Thor Jacobs and Sovereign Construction. “
